More commonly known by its acronym GWK, Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a 240-hectare cultural park that has been used as a venue for many large international events.  Dedicated to the God Visnu and his mythical eagle mount, Garuda, the park’s most significant feature are the statues of the two figures that were, upon completion, meant to be the largest statues on the planet measuring a massive 146m Lord Visnu riding atop Garuda with a 64m wing span.

Even in its uncompleted state, what does exist is a breathtaking insight into the culture of Bali. Not just the folklore that Balinese religion lives by, but also the artistic and cultural push-and-pulls that make Garuda Wisnu Kencana such an ambitious and controversial undertaking.

GWK Culture Park now has been opened for public. The visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of Denpasar Airport, harbor and Denpasar City, which are mostly beautiful when seen at nighttime. The restaurants, exhibition venue, stage for entertainments and big event venues are also available. This place is now one of the popular tourist destinations in the island of God and is visited by many tourists every day.
