Also on the southern end of Sanur Beach is another small temple tucked under a canopy of dense tree cover.  Pura Merta Sari is said to be a mystical place charged with powerful forces of black magic.  The odalan festival for this pura falls on a very auspicious day in the Balinese calendar (two weeks following the spring equinox) and is celebrated at night with a dramatic, and sometimes violent, ritual dance called the Baris Cina.

On a clear day there are fantastic views of several mountain ranges to the north, including Gunung Agung and Gunung Batur, especially beautiful at sunset and sunrise.
