Another interesting anomaly that may be found in West Bali is the Muslim Balinese village of Loloan Timur located near Negara.  Founded in 1653 by seafaring Bugis from Sulawesi, this village features traditional Bugis wooden houses that are oblong in shape with living quarters on the second floor that may not be found anywhere else on the island.

Loloan has its own language which is not the same as the language of the surrounding areas, not Balinese, Javanese, or other matter. The language of the village Loloan (Base Loloan) is similar to Malay.
