Located opposite Badung Market, Kumbasari Market starts hustling and bustling at 9:30AM, when the vendors start to set up shop. Similar to its neighbour across the river, Kumbasari Market is housed in a concrete four-storey building. Find traditional handicrafts, such as kitchen and home wares, and other bric-a-brac, such as bracelets and souvenirs. Many small traders also peddle cheap batik clothing and sarongs, jewellery, silverware, and some merchants will also claim to sell antiques. Keep an eye out for vibrant fabrics and gold-adorned costumes. Kumbasari Market starts closing at 4PM, however, at night, you’ll find food vendors serving nasi jinggo, a typical dish in which small portions of rice is wrapped in banana leaf served with a side dish and spicy sambal.

Pasar Kumbasari, next to Pasar Badung traditional market on Jl. Gajah Mada in downtown Denpasar, may give you a memorable and challenging shopping experience. The best part of shopping here, one can get cheaper prices for the same products sold at the more opulent shops out in the city. In the past, Pasar Kumbasari was popular as peken payuk — peken means market in the Balinese language, while payuk means household utensils. Denpasar mayoralty has declared Pasar Kumbasari as a heritage site. The market is very close to the historical Tukad Badung River, Bali Museum, Pura Jagatnatha temple, all of which are located within walking distance.
