Address:
Kamboja Street, Hayam Huruk, Denpasar Regency, Bali
By day, Kereneng
Market is somewhat sparse and appears to be your run-of-the-mill traditional
marketplace, selling random goods at very affordable prices, but after the sun goes
down, Kereneng becomes a buzzing night bazaar with various kinds of traditional
Indonesian foods on display until dawn. This is the biggest night market in Denpasar;
it is gritty and 100 per cent authentic. Keep an eye out for random rare finds,
such as cassette tapes from days of yore.
This night market is a wonderful way to learn more about Balinese lifestyle and cuisine. The city’s second biggest traditional market is named after its area, Kereneng. Up to 1,100 vendors sell all sorts of merchandise throughout this three-storey building. Although the condition and environment here is rather far from being clean and organised, it’s still a favourite place for locals to buy their daily needs at cheap prices.
