More akin to a shopping precinct than a marketplace, Kampung Arab is a sprawl of shops at the intersection of Jalan Sulawesi and Jalan Kalimantan in Denpasar. As the name would suggest, this area trades goods and delicacies of the Middle Eastern persuasion. From kaftans, textiles, holy books, and gold jewellery to Arabic spices and herbal bath and body products, such as kohl and beard oils, this Kampung is a small patch of the Middle East in the heart of Denpasar. Historically, this area was also known as the Arab village; citizens or descendants of immigrants from Arab lands inhabited the area.
