Also known as the Gunarsa Museum of Classical & Modern Art, and located in Takmung village 5 km west of the town center, this gallery museum is owned by the prolific and acclaimed contemporary Balinese artist Nyoman Gunarsa and is nestled in lush botanical garden surroundings. In addition to his personal artworks, the museum also holds a collection of traditional Balinese art and artifacts as well as contemporary pieces by Balinese artists. There is a Cultural Center attached to the museum, which hosts weekly gamelan and traditional dance performances. The museum’s assorted collection also houses a department dedicated to traditional Balinese herbal medicines.

This three-storey museum follows the conception of Tri Angga, the three parts of the human body- head, body, and legs. Spontaneous, lyrical and jocular describe both the man and his art. His subjects can be drawn from traditional dance, Balinese music, religious ritual or the natural environment. His paintings invariably flow from the stories of the daily life of the Balinese people and the legendary Hindu Dharma epics. The paintings are distinctive in their free flowing quality and frequent incorporation of wayang (shadow puppet) themes. His work is popular worldwide.
