Otherwise known as Batur Museum and situated near the junction where the road from Bangli meets the main caldera rim road, Museum Gunungapi Batur houses educational exhibits that explain the Pacific ring of fire and its context to Indonesia, as well as showcase local volcanology and the history of Mount Batur’s eruptions. A collection of local volcanic rocks is also on display in the museum, as well as a selection of films and animations that explain volcanic activity and why it occurs. Another entertaining feature at Museum Gunungapi Batur is the telescope that faces the mountain and grants breathtaking, zoomed-in views.
