At 2,063m Gunung Pohen is Bali's sixth tallest peak and another dormant strato-volcano located in the Bedugul area. One of the greatest attractions is situated on the verdant slopes of Gunung Pohen, The Bali Botanical Gardens. This branch of Bogor's national botanical gardens resembles more of a peaceful magic forest. It was established in 1958 and is officially known as Kebun Raya Eka Karya Bali, which refers to the fact that is the first Indonesian Botanical Gardens to have been established entirely by Indonesians. Containing over 16,000 plant collections spread out over a sprawling 154 hectares, the immaculately manicured gardens are navigable via guided driving paths and walking trails with clearly marked sections.
