One of the temples that are a part of the myriad in this area, the original structure of this temple was destroyed in 1917 but has since been rebuilt into a two-courtyard structure, the inner courtyard of which is protected by a massive kori agung, or towering gate.  The temple is a part of the concept of “Tri Kahyangan or Tri Murti” taught by Mpu Kuturan around the 10th century to the Balinese Hindu Community. Tri Kahyangan includes 3 temples, the Pura Desa or Village Temple as a place to worship God Brahma, Pura Puseh to worship God Vishnu, and the Pura Dalem to worship Lord Shiva. While the carvings may be considered simple relative to other temple carvings, the scale of the proportions and the royal legacy of this region which was once Bali’s second most powerful kingdom make this Pura one of the most significant in this regency.
