Literally translated it means a ‘large place for yoga and meditation; this temple is located in the village of Ketewel and is said to have been the location where the Legong Bededari (Balinese Legong dance was first conceived).

Legend has it the dance was realized by the Prince Dewa Agung Dalem Karna while in a deep meditative trance in which he visualized two dancing angels wearing colorful masks.  Many believe that it was this vision that led to the creation of the Balinese Legong dance as we see it today.

Housed within the premises are numerous magical masks, as well as a semara pagulingan gamelan set which is apparently the oldest of its type on the island. The temple structure itself represents the more spare style of south Gianyar architecture.
