Situated in Mas on the site of the original home of the Javanese sage Danghyang Nirartha, this is the villages most significant temple. A legend surrounds this important temple. It is said that Danghyang Niratha planted a purple tangi tree here and from the middle of this tree sprouted a golden bud, from where the name Mas (or gold) originated. The tree is still growing today and Taman Pule, meaning “beautiful garden” refers to this tree. Once every 210 days, on Kuningan Day, people come from all over to pray here. On the Friday before Kuningan and on Kuningan itself, performances of the rare wayang wong dance takes place at the temple.

The highlight of this Pura is the three-day temple festival, which is held twice a year during the Kuningan holiday period in which the archaic wayan wong puppet drama is presented in the temple’s grand and colorful courtyard.
