To the west of Tirta Empul and north of Pura Candi Gunung Kawi, is Pura Mengening, another temple complex positioned around another sacred spring. Located within the temple is a square, multi-roofed building similar to a Javanese candi, known as a prasada, This rarity dates back to the time of the King Anak Wungsu and is considered the prototype for the large rock reliefs such as those at the ancient Gunung Kawi monument.

What is interesting in this place is the presence of the Lingga-Yoni and ancient statues. Unfortunately these relics have been damaged, so it is not possible to know when and who made them. In addition there are also remains of ancient buildings and among others, the former doorway.
