Taking the road west past Bedugul, you will cross the mountain crater lakes of Bratan, Buyan and Tamblingan. The most popular attraction here is the famous (and second most photographed) temple complex Pura Ulan Danu Bratan situated on the western shore of Lake Bratan and dedicated to the goddess of the lake, Dewi Danu Bratan. Other activities here include water sports such as parasailing, Jet Ski and speedboat rides as well as treks throughout the entire scenic area. Just past Lake Tamblingan is the enchanting hill town of Munduk that is surrounded by valleys of clove and coffee tree plantations, which become romantically shrouded in fog as dusk approaches. Treks and nature walks of varying length are available in this area and well advised.  A visit to the lovely and surprisingly not so well known Munduk Waterfall is also highly recommended.

The Bedugul-Munduk lake country highlands of Bali are a mountainous area known for its arts, culture, temples and bodies of water with some of the island's best scenery and geographical features. Located in Central Bali, the lakes district enjoys a cooler climate to the coastal areas due to the altitude and surrounds. To visit Bali's lake country and the areas around Bedugul and Munduk, it's a 90-minute drive from the cultural city of Ubud. For buses, Perama is the major tourist shuttle operator with offices in Ubud and Bedugul.
